June and October, and the date order
Ten of the twelve months are simply the Sino-Korean number plus 월. June and October are the exceptions, and both drop a final consonant to make the word easier to say: 육 becomes 유월 and 십 becomes 시월.
Nothing else changes, and November and December keep the p in 십일월 and 십이월 because the following syllable is a vowel.
월 names a month of the year. For a month as a length of time, Korean uses 달: 이번 달, this month.
Dates run largest to smallest, like Japanese: 2026년 5월 3일, year then month then day.
- 제 생일은 사월이에요.My birthday is in April.
- 유월에 갈 거예요.I'm going in June.
