In January, and writing a date

For a month, use en: en enero means in January. For seasons, add the article: en verano or en el verano both work.

A date puts de between the day and the month: el 3 de mayo, the third of May. The year gets another de: el 3 de mayo de 2026.

The day is an ordinary number, not an ordinal. Only the first of the month is different, and that is el primero de mayo.

  • Mi cumpleaños es en abril. My birthday is in April.
  • Nos vemos el 15 de junio.See you on the 15th of June.
