In January, and writing a date

For a month, use a: a gennaio. In gennaio is also correct and sounds slightly more formal.

Seasons take in: in primavera, in estate.

A date is il, the number, then the month: il 3 maggio. The first of the month is the only ordinal, il primo maggio.

Written dates run day first, so 3/5/2026 is the third of May.

  • Il mio compleanno รจ ad aprile. My birthday is in April.
  • Ci vediamo il 15 giugno.See you on the 15th of June.
