In January, and writing a date
For a month, use em: em janeiro. No mês de janeiro is the longer, more formal version.
A date puts de between the day and the month, and again before the year: 3 de maio de 2026.
The day is an ordinary number. Only the first of the month can be an ordinal, primeiro de maio, and in Brazil that one is standard.
Written dates run day first, so 3/5/2026 is the third of May.
- Meu aniversário é em abril. My birthday is in April.
- A gente se vê em 15 de junho.See you on the 15th of June.
