Dutch basic phrases game

Seventeen phrases that each do one job: introduce yourself, admit you did not follow, ask the price, ask for the bill, ask for help. The requests use the formal alstublieft, which is what you want with someone you have just met.

Five games take this set. Whole clauses are too long for the grid and spelling games, so Flooded Hold is the one to play: it shows a phrase against an English meaning and asks whether they match.

Questions

Alstublieft or alsjeblieft?

Alstublieft is the formal one, built on u. Alsjeblieft is built on je and is for people you know. Both mean please, and both also mean here you go when handing something over.

Will Dutch people just answer me in English?

Often, yes, especially in Amsterdam. Ik leer Nederlands is in this set for exactly that reason: saying it usually buys you the rest of the conversation in Dutch.
