Italian family game

Nineteen relatives, each carried with its article, and four of them plural: i genitori, i figli, i fratelli, i nonni. Those plurals do more work than they look like they do, because Italian uses the masculine plural for any mixed group.

Five games take this set, since every entry carries its article and that is more than the grid and spelling games can take. Sky Rescue and Pop Quiz are where this one belongs.

Questions

Does i fratelli mean brothers or siblings?

Both. A masculine plural in Italian covers a mixed group, so i fratelli is brothers when they all are and siblings when they are not. I figli works the same way for sons and children, and i nonni for grandfathers and grandparents.

Why does zio take lo rather than il?

Because it starts with z. Italian uses lo instead of il in front of z, gn, ps and s plus a consonant. Lo zio is the only entry in this set that shows it, which is why it is worth noticing here.
