Switching a phrase from formal to informal
The formal phrases use Sie and a verb ending in -en. To make them informal, swap Sie for du and change the ending to -st.
Sprechen Sie Englisch becomes Sprichst du Englisch. Können Sie mir helfen becomes Kannst du mir helfen.
With a stranger, stay formal. Nobody has ever been annoyed at being addressed too politely in German.
