Questions
Why do five days end in an accented ì?
Because they end in -dì, from the Latin for day, and the stress lands there. Lunedì, martedì, mercoledì, giovedì and venerdì all take the accent. Sabato and domenica come from different roots and do not.
Are the days capitalised?
No. Italian keeps days, months and languages lowercase, so lunedì mid-sentence is correct and the games mark it that way. The week starts on lunedì, and an Italian calendar prints it first.
