Italian numbers game
The full run from zero to cento, then the landmarks past it: duecento, mille, un milione. Italian glues the tens and units into one word, and drops a vowel when they collide: venti plus uno is ventuno, not ventiuno.

All 108 words feed all seven games. The Vault is unusually fair here, since Italian is close to phonetic, but ventitré and its accented siblings still catch people who have only ever heard the numbers.

Questions
Why is 21 ventuno rather than ventiuno?
The tens lose their final vowel in front of uno and otto, so venti gives ventuno and ventotto, trenta gives trentuno and trentotto, and so on up the range. Every other unit keeps both parts: ventidue, ventitré, ventiquattro.
Why does ventitré have an accent?
Because the stress falls on the last syllable. Tre on its own has no accent, but every compound ending in it takes one: ventitré, trentatré, quarantatré. Leaving it off is the most common written mistake in the set.
Why does mille become mila in duemila?
Mille is the only Italian number with a separate plural. One thousand is mille, two thousand is duemila, ten thousand is diecimila. Cento never changes: duecento, cinquecento.
