Questions
When do I use tu and when vous?
Tu for one person you know well, vous for anyone else and for any group. Getting it wrong with a stranger reads as over-familiar, so vous is the safe default until someone invites you to switch.
Why is ils in the set but not elles?
Ils covers a group of men and any mixed group, which is most groups, so it is the one you need first. Elles is only correct when the group is entirely feminine: one man in the room and it goes back to ils. It belongs with the grammar rather than with the starter words.
